Session IV : Dealings with Pirates Report
General Summary
Gathering themselves, the party set off into the Sea of Lashwin toward Gill Galli, with heavy hearts as they left behind Ooptec. The first day passed without incident(not stopping for fear of Winner catching them), Eryst taking the wheel for a time as Celdric needed to rest, and didn't crash overnight (going in a circle will do that). Jinfei did notice that something was on the horizon, but couldn't tell what it was exactly as they sailed, so they moved on. Mo began work on creating a new plant companion, collecting sea weeds and the like as Elders End sailed. Jug, now freed from the influence of the Fae, looked over the pile of magic items and took a few for himself. After sailing Eryst went to nap, and noticed Patrin acting rather weird, similar to the days before with Jug and Diogo.
Dawn of the second day, Jinfei looked for whatever she saw before but couldn't find it. Eryst proud of her sailing, Celdric not telling the spellscale of what he found out to of happened. Mo finished his work and Hammock the pile of sea weed came into sentience, now completely exhausted Mo fell asleep. The day passed with peace as nothing really of interest happened, Jinfei taking the wheel for the night. Sailing, she lead Elders End straight into a reef and ripped a massive hole in the Brig. The party thinking quickly awoke and began trying to clear out the brig. Ridge, the sole survivor of the previous crew was still locked within and was quickly removed as the brig filled with water. Between Jug and Jinfei the chunk of coral was removed and the hole fixed, many of the party staying up to clear the water and keep themselves moving.
On the third day, Celdric and Jinfei noticed something, a ship....more like a floating home, was in pursuit and making a ramming charge. Taking a look the words Ro-Khar's Bane was scrawled on the front, and with a moment of thought they knew who this was. Captain Edward Coal Eye, most feared and legendary of Kobold pirates. Rumor is that he had never lost a fight, and his crew never left without hoards of gold and supplies.
Alarms were yelled and the crew awakened to fend off the attack, as a swamp dragon was lobbed onto the deck of Elders End and exploded. Ridge was given command of the helm as Celdric opened battle with an illusion of Elders End toward one side Tricking some of the Kobolds but not enough as the ship picked up speed with the help the Druid aboard Ro-Khar's Bane. Mo waking up from a days rest, overhears the shouts of alarm and begins loading cannons with the help of a wand. Eryst and Patrin gathering arms, they run out on deck in time to see Jug leap over and dive into the water, turning into part Manta ray as he did. Eryst quickly seeing that Patrin was in no shape to fight let alone be left alone told the Fae controlled Dragon to return to the cabin and rest. As a second volley of swamp dragons were launched, Diogo used his staff to knock them away and into the ocean. Celdric launched a fireball at the enemy craft only for it to be dispelled by a net from one of the Kobolds. Eryst wanting to try out her new toy Stormtooth, released a bolt of lightning upon the craft to try and stop them, electricity arched off the house boat and over the ocean. Jug swimming quickly to the front of the ship attacked with great force and broke the front of Ro=Khar's Bane before being snared in a net. Ro-Khar's Bane launched a grappling hook into the side of Elders End and began reeling themselves in, Jinfei quickly melted the chain and freed themselves from the ship. Cannons and ports opened as the magical crew were aiming their now loaded cannons toward the houseboat. Diogo seeing an opportunity, leaped from what remains of the grappling hook and over to Ro-Khar's Bane, trying to keep the boarding party at bay, but realized his mistake as he heard the sounds of "FIRE" being yelled from Elders End. A broadside firing of all Cannons ripped from Elders End, punishing any and all who were in the sights of the lead. Ro-Khar's Bane taking heavy damage and began sinking. Those kobolds who remained after the shot, quickly swam to Elders End, climbing aboard; not all making it as Jug freeing himself from the net followed and killed two more of the swimming draconic slaves. As the houseboat sunk, Mo saw a familiar wooden figure sink into the waves, the figurehead of this ramshackle ship, Ooptec. Wasting no time, he leaped into the ocean and began to swim down after his fallen friend.
Surrendering, Captain Coal Eye invoked the right of Parlay with Celdric, to which a conversation was had between the two captains. Meanwhile the rest of Coal Eye's crew was shown down into the brig where Eryst and Rumbum exchanged words each trying to one up the other. Half an hour later or so, an agreement was met and the crew of Ro-Khar's Bane was given freedom, with a bit of a wait as the cast a spell(Salvage) to reclaim their ship from the depths of the sea. Mo at the end of his breath and about to pass out from lack of oxygen, the ship began to rise and with it him to the surface. After a heated talk and almost death, Ooptec was released and returned to Mo.
Parting ways, Elders End continued her journey toward Gill Galli and whatever else that held for the Party.
