Traveling People--Culture

Traveling People

Alignment Suggestions: Traveling lifestyles are inherently rootless, and many who follow them lean strongly toward the Chaotic, often having little respect for the ways, (or property law) of the more settled folk they wend among.

Languages Known: In addition to Common, your native tongue is either your species' private language or one of the more common versions of Halfling. If the latter, your community has made a point of learning the private language of one species they've had repeated interactions with, and you are fluent in it as well. If the former, you have also learned a local version of Halfling.

Means of Transport: You are proficient in Animal Handling, or Land Vehicles, or Water Vehicles, or Air Vehicles, as appropriate for your specific history.

Skills of the Road: You are proficient in Tinker's Tools, and one of your choice from Cartographer's Tools, Navigator's Tools, Leatherworker's Tools, Forgery Kit, or Disguise Kit.

Inscrutable Foreigner: When speaking a Private language with one of your allies, you impose disadvantage on any Wisdom (Insight) checks by others to understand your conversation, or guess your emotional responses or veracity.

Heritage Suggestions: The most common Traditions among traveling folk in general are Disguise, the Arcane, the Mind, and the Trickster. The most common heritage among Orcs by far is a Feat (usually Mounted Combat). Sometimes entire traveling folk caravans consist of shifters of one family.
