Hobgoblins of Meara

The Hobgoblins of Meara are generally agreed to be a race descended from many generations of intermarriage between sky elves and goblins. However, they have been in existence as their own group for thousands of years, plenty of time to develop an identity separate from either of their forerunners.   Combine the Elves' natural knack for magic with Goblins' incessant tinkering habit, and you end up with a species fascinated by stretching the bounds of the arcane.   Hobgoblins generally have green skin, very large pointed ears, and lush hair of almost any color, but always very dark tones.

Hobgoblin Species

Age. Hobgoblins are physically mature by the age of 20. They can live to as much as 300 years.
Size.
Hobgoblins are tall and painfully skinny, with oddly long arms. They stand from 6 to 7 feet, and weigh between 150 and 200 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Speed.
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision.
You have keen vision, especially in the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Soul Gem Trance.
The soul gem that rests at the top of your breastbone serves different purposes than those of your ancient Goblin forebears. Like your Elven ancestors, you do not need to sleep, but instead rest a hand on your gem and spend four hours in a meditative trance to renew yourself for a new day.
If you have any Traditional Heritage, or other spells that you can cast once per long rest, (not those learned from a class or cast from a magical item) you can spend the full hour of a short rest in meditation, touching your soul gem, and regain the use of those spells. You cannot engage in any other activities during the short rest in which you do this, and once you have taken this soul gem trance you cannot take another until you have finished a long rest.
Long-Limbed.
You have a goblin's long, spindly arms and long-fingered hands on an elf's tall frame. When you make a melee attack on your turn, your reach for it is 5 feet greater than normal.
Spell Resistant.
Between the resilience of your ancestral lines and the evolutionary effect of many generations of Hobgoblin experimentation, you have developed impressive resistance to magical effects. You have advantage on saving throws due to spell effects. (This includes Heritage and other innate spells and those cast from magical items, but not magical effects of creatures' special abilities.)

Common Hobgoblin Cultures

Hobgoblins in their traditional culture are At Home in the Sky, and fewer of them have strayed to earth to settle than have Goblins, but more than Sky Elves.   Hobgoblins are the single most likely race to study and pass on Traditional Heritages; almost every Hob you meet is likely to know one... or two.
