Talen'Seere Looks to the Future

Political event

1395(AC)

Concern rises as the elves prepare for another Speaker election.

As the end of Speaker Goldenoak’s term approaches the politics of Talen’Seere have kicked into high to gear. The Speaker has avoided supporting any specific candidate in order to avoid showing favoritism to any particular elvish bloodline.
Currently, the apparent front runners for the speaker position are the new Drow representative Umrae of House Gor’ienne, a priestess of Belandra who has appealed to the elves growing distrust of the influence of the Fae Court in Talen’Seere since the end of the plague outbreak. Though rather outspoken and seemingly cruel, Umrae has gained a great deal of support from the commoners in the city, by appealing to their fear of further aggression by the Unseelie Court.
Her primary opposition, at this point, is the Grey Elf mage Balrian Greycloak. Balrian is a powerful mage and enjoys the support of much of the elite of Talen’Seere. He still maintains much of the ancestral hatred of the Drow elves and preaches the end of Talen’Seere if they are allowed to take control of the council.
Speaker Goldenoak secretly fears either of these elves coming to control the council, but at this junction there are no clear representatives of the other bloodlines that have the political support to claim the speaker
