Sil'Korma, the Silver Ring

Once owned by the famous Half-Dragon adventurer and Innkeeper, Velis, the silver ring Sil'Korma is believed to have been the greatest magical artifact crafted by the church of Gelder in the second age.   So important to Velis' fame and fortune, the half-dragon not only took the name of the ring as his surname, but also named the country he founded after the ring.   According to various sources, Sil'korma bore a number of enchantments that allowed its wearer to succeed in business. First of all, the market value of any item the wear looks at is immediately known to him. Secondly, the ring infused the owner with supernatural charisma and salesmanship, and it is said that no mortal could refuse a deal made by the wearer. However, the ring would then bind the wearer to live up to the exact wording of any bargain struck while wearing it.   However, the most legendary power of Sil'korma was that it granted the wearer the ability to study and contract or agreement and learn any and all loopholes in the wording of the bargain. Legend holds that in the early days of his Kingdom, Velis used the function of the ring to buy out a number of diabolic contracts between mortals and Mammon, the devil lord of the third layer of the Hells.   Mammon, enraged at the loss of profit that Velis caused him, invoked a curse upon the ring. This curse forced the wearer to prioritize monetary profit over all things, including their own well being. The curse was incredibly powerful, and with the exception of Velis, who was mentally strong enough to avoid the worst effect of the ring, the owners of Sil'Korma all came to horrible ends as their cursed greed eventually led to their destruction.   It is said that the curse of Sil'korma eventually spread to the Kingdom which shared its name, and many blame the curse of Mammon for leading the priests of Gelder into bargaining with Asmodeus after their God was slain by Mittierim, eventually leading to the fall of the merchant kingdom.
