Government
Darel is one of the Grand Duchies of Fetesca and is bound by all of the Laws of the Kingdom. The Duchess of the noble Family Del Sol remains the head of government in the Duchy and proclaims all laws within the land that do not infringe upon Royal Law or Decree.
The one unique legal issue with Darel is that unlike the rest of Fetesca, bloodlines in Darel are traced through the mother. As such, Darel has a much longer tradition of equality between the sexes than the rest of Fetesca does.

Defences
The main defences of the duchy are focused around the mines in the east. Each of the mining facilities are protected by large citadels that are maned by both military forces as well as those of the Church of the Holy Union and its paladinic orders.
Assets
The Gold Mines of Western Darel are the source of much of the wealth of the Duchy and the source of gold for the majority of the country.
Architecture
The eastern citadels are common Fetescan construction, but within the remainder of the duchy, a more delicate hand is shown in much of the architecture. The city of Darel is known for its spiraling towers of gold and blue, and the streets of white cobblestone.
Geography
The Eastern part of Darel is basically little used farmland. The West in the foothills of the Eastforge Mountains is home to the largest collection of Gold Mines in Fetesca.
