Mayvis

The world of Mayvis was inspired by the Xanth book series that my mother read to me as a child. The world setting is similar to our world, however there's another small continent where anything magical/supernatural migrated too in the distant past. This continent was connected to northwest Asia and when it separated it drifted both south and further west. When tensions between the magical and the non magical denizens of the world rose to full animosity and casualties on both sides began to pile up the magical people in charge worked together to help separate the their land, the continent Mayvis, from the rest of humanity as well as casting a massive mindwiping spell to cause non magical humans to forget the existence of magic. However this didn't eradicate the small bits of magic spread across the rest of the world, and left gaps for historical events and beliefs. To keep their existence hidden and safe from humans a select amount of witches/wizards/sorcerers were chosen to integrate themselves into non magical society and keep the public ignorant to the truth of magic. They also still report and communicate with the leaders of Mayvis, making it so as both groups advanced those in Mayvis benefited from non magical inventions and Mayvis generated inventions while the non magical world did not get any of the benefits of Mayvis. The two groups were so separated on a whole that it led to very different values, world views, societal standards, and social issues.
