The Burning of Old Elchwood

Disaster / Destruction

3501

With the New Gods' destruction of the Old Elchwood, the war turned more violent and deadly for mortals.

The first major success of the New Gods in their war with the Elven Gods came when they destroyed the most ancient forest in Mavilor, the Old Elchwood. In doing this they also destroyed some of the largest and most powerful Elvish settlements. This destruction also marked the start of the gods openly clashing on Mavilor, alongside their servants. This set the precedent that all casualties were acceptable, and thus it was not uncommon for gods to raze villages, towns, and even cities.
