Session 76: Equinox Part 1 Report

General Summary

Bronze dragon underwater, black dragon above ground.

The party long rests. Menace takes first watch. During their watch, the blue rot boils start to appear on them, Virion, and Shan'tie. They go to wake up Mystan for help with the illness.

Mystan tries lesser restoration, but because of the ability score reduction greater restoration is needed. Shan'tie has song of creation, so they go to wake her up for material components.

Shan'tie has a vision dream with the Great Goldfinch. The Goldfinch tells Shan'tie to kill the empire, that it isn't his fault Lillian left, and Shan'tie asks what to do. The Golfinch says Shan'tie will have power, if she follows his will and his rules regarding hospitality, ownership, and reciprocity.

Shan'tie makes the diamond dust by burning some slots and Mystan heals the sick., burning through all the diamond dust. They barely have the spell points.

Menace tells Shan'tie and Menace to go to sleep. But Shan'tie takes the moment to realize she needs to tell Granny Nightshade about the empire knowing. So she casts Dream, tells her, and is told to fuck off.

The party wakes up in the mid morning of the 39th, well rested.

They canoe down the Dunwater River for a few days, reaching the Lizardfolk Lair early on the 42nd. On the 41st, Menace splits off to head towards Saltmarsh.

The party arrives in the Dunwater Lair and are let into the large sea cave, where htey reconvene with Bubbles. Bubbles and Shan'tie have an awkward reintroduction, while Bubbles is appreciative to see Virion and Mystan still alive.

The party discusses how they want to approach the fight. Mystan and Bubbles want to take the underwater approach, and Shan'tie favors the Lizardfolk and half the sea elves on the surface with the locatha and the other half of the sea elves underwater, while the party stays underwater. The Scourge of Hool can go on the surface while Jhar can go underwater.

The military goal now is to deny the empire access to this tower. The underwater tunnel is nearly 4000 feet long and carved into the tunnel. It has three large stone gates and a series of murder holes only accessible from the far side. The party debates the merits of capturing the enemy versus killing them all. They don't have the resources; plus, the Lizardfolk tend to eat captives and the Locatha sure as hell don't take prisoners

The division will be, surface: 70 lizardfolk, 125 sea elves, 1 black dragon. Underwater: 50 locatha, 75 sea elves, 1 bronze dragon, and the party.

The dragons will be useful for dealing with choke points. Plus, Shan'tie and Virion can misty step into the kill holes. Polymorph would also help.
