Mass Effect: Aftershocks Standing in the Ash of a Trillion Dead Souls

It's been 50 years since the end of the galaxy, yet we're still kicking around despite it all.   We survived when we thought we wouldn't, though we're not the same as we once were. All the way down to our DNA.   If it can even be called that anymore.   Of course, all of our collective worlds coming to an end didn't stop the problems we had before. The Krogan still rail against the bounds set on them by the council, though they've remained restrained. The Turian colonies are kicking up dust again. Humanity can't seem to decide on its direction, or whether the Shepard should be deified or demonized.   New races are still discovered, some who saw the abyss that came for us and others who see the lines etched into most of the old guard's faces but do not know the context, and the deepness of the lines tells them they don't really want to know.   And of course, the ever-reaching hand of those who want more. Power, wealth, what have you, they just want it and it seems they've willfully forgotten what everyone, every species, went through when personal interests outstripped our idea of mutual health and humanitarianism.   Ce la vie.   What's the worst that could happen?
