Humans

Ah, the humans. See them now, stumbling through their short lives, none too aware of just how small they are in the world. Leave them to their devices and they'll overrun entire continents in just a few short decades.

Pesky things they are, cursed be our ancestors that created these invasive rabble-rousers. I do not envy those who have to clean up their messes. Still, without humans, the vampire population would soon crumble, not for lack of food--surely as I stand here now before you class, I assure you that any number of species what possess blood is ripe food for a vampire lest they not be too choosy about flavors--no, it is because of all the Sentients--and believe me children, you don't want to see what happens if you turn a non-sentient--they alone are so easily turned. Why, we must thank the hapless humans, err without them most of you would not be here today.
