Backstory

Im Ji-woo, nicknamed Ji-Wi by the beings who picked her up, was born and raised in a little village outside the town of Boeun, some kilometers east/southeast of Chonju in southern South Korea. She enjoyed camping in the Sobaek Mountains, exploring caves and water spring heads. She was picked up one day while exploring when she was 8 by some outer space beings that looked a lot like large praying mantises, but with suction cups on the ends of their feet for anchoring themselves to ship bulkheads in zero gravity. She had found their abandoned extraterrestrial device and crawled in it and was still there when they took it back. They let her stay on their ship as she proved quite interested and useful.
She has been on several different types of planets, including the rocky homeworld of those beings, mining colonies on asteroids, and gaseous planets that they had to fit a suit for her to protect her from the poisonous air. She has a tech jumpsuit with an anti-grav pack underneath some traveling clothes--brown duster with fur lining and exotic magnetic boots. She also has collected several gadgets, her favorite being a forcefield generator, which she's used many times on missions to gather scientific specimens.
Over time they've had run ins with another powerful species--rock like--over tech advances. Ji-wi made one close friend, Blik, a crystal being that's got a stake in both species. She's come back to earth to research merging nanobots with local botany. She's also curious about any space tech that humans have developed and was ecstatic at the new images of black holes. She took her hero name from that: Jelly Black.

How the team met

She got called to save Coqui from the Revenant's hit squad at the Kodiak's stadium. While in the skirmish, the Revenant unleashed a deadly chemical gas that reacts with oxygen. Jelly Black used her forcefield to contain it; the Enabler used his ability to turn it into a solid compound, and Skyler and Sun burnt it. The day was saved!

She's always been one foot in the door and one out. Until now. Now, she pours everything she has into this one moment. She pulls off tricks no one from this planet has ever seen before. She uses tools in ways no on here could have ever imagined. She devotes herself to a cause and achieves her goals in ways that she never could've if she'd stayed home. Of course, now she's proved she doesn't belong here and that the very skills she succeeded with are the ones she learned from out there.
