Welcome to Mars. It has been 200 years since its colonisation from human settlers - Earth refugees discarded from a distant past. These collections of humans all survive holed up in great big metal shells - great biomes made of scrap metal, spare parts and desperation - in order to be protected from the harsh/ augmenting effects of the sun and the great beasts that roam the wild.   Controlling these biomes are greatly powerful water organisations, who have sway over every facet of society "since, as the saying goes "water is power...". Humans congregate in these biomes since water supplies on Mars are a scarcity, and thus the general belief is "it's still better to live under the thumb than to die needlessly".   The world is almost uninhabitable outside of the biomes; humans need specialised equipment or machinery just to survive moving between the other organisations' biomes. Mutated creatures and monstrosities roam the land in caves and under-dwellings but even they dare not walk outside when the sun is out, fore the Sun is truly the greatest threat.   Inside the biomes themselves, corruption is rampant. In Abundance (the main biome at the centre of this adventure) they are ruled by a fickle 'caste' system, whereby people's last names are defined by their occupation or stock in life; there is little chance to heighten your status. Only exceptional abilities or prowess can act as social leverage - outside of that, where you are born is likely where you'll die. Mars is bleak. This is where our story begins...
