Dedicated to a saint, this celebration has been partly appropriated by people claiming to be witches, who celebrate it by lighting fires, brewing potions, and reputedly, performing sacrifices and summoning ghosts.
Walpurgisnacht is celebrated on the 30th (and last) day of the month of Osteren.
