The Grail
The Grail, as described by Heinrich Stürmer, was apparently the cup Gaal and his Companions drank from at the Last Supper. It was subsequently lost, but recovered, in his telling, by the Knights of the Tomb during a Crusade. The Grail seems to be an incredibly powerful artifact, but in Stürmer's telling, it can easily be abused or mishandled by the wrong people.
The Knights' possession of the Grail seems to have invited jealousy of other powerful people, and the order was accused of witchcraft and heresy. Its head and other important members were burned at the stake, and its property was seized. But the Grail was apparently hidden away in a special realm, to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
Now, Stürmer says the time has come to return it to the world, since it has become dangerously close to falling to the forces of evil (with the Plague and the Totentanz, as well as heresies of various kinds afflicting the land). He seeks a new initiate to bring it back.
