Session Fifteen: Time in Meadowfern

Cyrus was woken up in the middle of the night by a bird using Alabaster's voice. It told him to bring Yarrow to the woods to help him and that Aldous had fucked up. Cyrus and Yarrow got up and made their way across town. In the middle of town they came across some of the guards from earlier. They stopped the two and asked them what they were doing. Yarrow asked them what was going on and the two responded that a Hedge was on the run for stealing from Professor Clara Oaces. Cyrus and Yarrow sent the guards along telling them that bandits were nearby and made their way to the woods to find Alabaster.

Aldous sat in the woods with a cast of elevated sight above the bush he was hiding in. He had been on edge all night looking for those coming for him. He wished to be nonexistent invisible. As he looked around he saw the tiniest movements of vines and roots moving towards him. Aldous looked out towards the town and cast Gaseous Form making his way back to   The main thing here is that the magistrate of Winnowing Reach believes that a" href="/w/mardlo-arias-nuactna/a/winnowing-reach-article">Winnowing Reach.

Yarrow and Cyrus met up with Alabaster in the woods who informed them of what had happened. Yarrow seemed bothered by the whole thing while Cyrus merely listened. The group decided to head back into town. Alabaster had discovered that the bag that he took from Clara was a bag of holding. Yarrow suggested that he hide in the bag while they went through town that way he could stay out of sight.

Aldous made his way to the town. First he saw the Magistrates building, inside was the magistrate, the captain of the town guard, and Professor Clara. He turned and made his way to the researchers house and found it surrounded by guards and researchers. Yarrow and Cyrus came into town around the same time and started talking to the guards. Yarrow saw the smoke and pointed it out telling the others to watch out for fire. Aldous moved himself to the middle of the roof out of view and re-solidified.

Aldous pointed towards Yarrow and cast Message. Aldous asked why the Tola was pointing him out. Yarrow told Aldous that he wasn't going to let him steal anything else and that if he wanted the notes that Alabaster took that he needed to go to Mint's house and wait there for him or else he would turn them in to the authorities. Aldous turned back to smoke and started to fly towards Mint's.

Yarrow, Cyrus, and Alabaster got back first. Aldous was very slow in his smoke form. Yarrow waited for Aldous and when he arrived the two argues over what to do. Aldous wanted to leave town immediately and go somewhere else to study the notes. Yarrow didn't want his family to look bad and wanted Aldous to return the notes. He could copy them and study them but that they should return them. After much deliberation the group agreed to leave in the morning and they would go to Meadowfern to study the notes and hang out with Yarrow's family.

Yarrow and Cyrus made their way out normally. Alabaster went to sleep in the bag of holding and Aldous turned to smoke to fly secretly out of town. The group made their way to Meadowfern and about halfway there they saw Mayapple Fermata and Crioth Fermata. Mayapple looked concerned and Crioth danced around her playing the violin, a mage hand carrying a basket behind them.

Yarrow explained Saba to his Mom and the group head back to Meadowfern. Saba and Aiden were reunited. Crioth and Cyrus had some 'bonding' time. Alabaster woke up and started to go through some of Clara's things. Yarrow and Aldous both argued about what to do going forward. They agreed that the group would stay in Meadowfern for a week. Aldous would study and copy the notes and mail them back.

Looking through the things here's what the party found;

• Odwald's notes. A book about necromancy, a book about curses and enchanting items, and a book about the elemental anchors and the ruins at the scorched grove.
• Clara's notes and her researcher's field notes recovering information that was stolen from the Avium.
• Clara's spellbook with all her spells known
• Clara's journal with information about her stealing from other professor's work and her desire to get credit for fixing the scorched grove. It becomes more obvious that she has been trying to hide or restrict information from others about the scorched grove to keep it herself.
• A scroll tube with a magic seal and vines carved into the tube.
• 2 healing potions
• A Wing Crest Shield
• A scroll of Misty step
• A bag of holding
• A crest for Odwald's family

Cyrus spent the morning with Crioth again and worked with him to gain expertise in performance. The amount he could learn in such a short time from Crioth was unfounded.

Alabaster and Aldous worked together to open up the sealed scroll tube. Trying many methods until Alabaster got lucky with a dispel and opened the tube. The scroll inside was damaged but seemed to be written in an old primordial language. It talked about the Borealis and the great calamities.

Aldous continued to study the notes and the scroll. Alabaster meanwhile made his way in the afternoon to start studying music with Crioth. Crioth tried to get Alabaster to 'perform' with him the way Cyrus did but the Hedge refused and only wanted to study music with the Bard.

Yarrow spent the day; writing to Dande telling him of the undead plot of the bandits and to tell the council, writing to the Avium sending them some of Clara's notes with the sections about taking other people's work and hiding information pointed out, and going through town and casting Plant Growth with his flute. As he played he only got one ping as Saba began to glow. After his spell Yarrow explained to the two Mapach about the disease and the danger Saba was in.

- 19 of Han through the 4 of Solas -

Yarrow spent a week studying alchemy and testing potions on his grandfather. He made a few health potions, found a recipe to make someone glow with bright light for a minute (using fur from the black squirrels in twon), and created a recipe that allows the drinker to speak with animals at will for 24 hours.

Alabaster spent time studying Clara's book and studying with Crioth to learn more spells.

Cyrus spent time studying Clara's book and studying with Kathon to learn more spells.

Aldous spent time researching the notes and books as well as time studying Clara's book to learn more spells.
