Gnomes

Gnomes are 1-2 ft humanoids with large hands and feet and exagerated features. They move much like apes or lemurs, and are comfortable traversing treetops, cliffsides and rafters alike.

The "big folk" have been slow to accept Gnomes as a full people, so Gnomes have long lived in guarded, itinerant communities admist the wilds and hidden corners of society. Their secrecy has been aided by their naturally flexible souls, which let them twist the Sun's life slightly to alter people's perception.

Their seperation from Marcinese society, has lead to a strange misunderstanding on the part of the "big folk". Gnomes historically introduce themselves by their family name. This led some scholars to believe Gnomes from multiple generations were the same individual; drastically overestimating their lifespans.

In the last generation, opinions on Gnomes have shifted and they have begun being accepted into "big folk" society. The Gnomes have observed this change with weary optimism, but some think it's too little, too late and may actually damage the Gnomish way of life.
