Elves

Elves are a people inextricably linked to The Dappled Ones. Elven stories say of how the Dappled Ones are in their blood; how each Elven family has a Dappled guardian. Other stories speak of the patterns which signify a servant of the Dappled Ones; the way the Elves greatly amuse them; how they love their Elven pets.

Elves have long slender ears and butterfly antenna for eyebrows. Their skin is covered in short, soft patterns of fur and their eyes are wide and wondrous. Some would describe them as dainty, others as cute. Their ears twitch and move in response to sound and mood.

Whilst they are extremely long lived, Elves struggle to master skills. They possess a "buzzing in the brain", an inherent restlessness that drives them to keep on moving. For this reason a skill that a Human might master in a lifetime, an elf would take several. Most elves follow this buzzing, leading chaotic and varied lives all across the land. An old Elf may not have a deep well of knowledge, but they will have a wide one.

Elves perception of time is one of generation long seasons. They live in the moment, with not a great sense of history, but are always influenced by these long cycles of time. Many Elves have taken to changing their identity with these long-seasons. Each season they adopt a new name, home, style and pursuit, coming back to old favorites when their season comes around again.
