Soul Shackle

A soul shackle is a foul ritual in which one attempts to forcibly chain another's soul to theirs, gaining their latent power, knowledge and abilities. Considered by most spiritually knowledgeable cultures to be the most abhorrent ritual imaginable, a successful shackle will over time completely consume the victims soul, preventing it from ever appearing before Pharasma again to be reused in the Cycle of Souls.

Origins

There is much debate amongst the academic community on its origins, the current leading theory is that is is Infernal in origin, bearing a resemblance to the normal soul bindings of devils. Though Elven scholars dispute this but remain tight lipped about their theories as they are about the majority of their knowledge.

Manifestation

The soul shackle is not normally visible, but when in the Soul Realm, also known as the mindscape, or in a state capable of seeing things of a metaphysical nature they manifest as violet chains reaching out and around the user grasping at whatever it can.
