Government

officially the burgomasters of each borough made decisions regarding the taxation and maintenance of their domains. After the economic collapse following the silver drying up all executive decisions are made by the baron who dissolved the boroughs after the majority of the educated and wealthy moved away. And while the arbiters office still is technically staffed, few laws made by the baron get the proper oversight.

This was all due to the immense silver deposits beneath the hills surrounding the town, with over 75% of the town being employed by the mines or in a silver related trade.

History

The land that would go on to become cyrus has been inhabited since the early mythic era, though not much is known of that time. Its current iteration was originally founded by Cyrus "The Silver Knight" using land bequeathed to him and his knights following the Exodus of the Deeps its deep reserves of silver, said to be from a pact with the silver dragons

a lie to cover up the truth, the silver is the remains of his sisters Argante's blood
used to create the silver weapons his knights were known for.

As time progressed and the original knights who followed cyrus died off the town shifted from a military focus to an economic focus. Most silver was now being extracted for wealth rather than for use by questing knights. It was during the economic rebirth that the town went from a collection of castles and training yards to a proper city complete with its own mercantile class. it prospered along with the rest of the Storm lands until the conquest of the Sarrahassid Empire. During which the denizens of Silver Hills were forced deep into the mines of Mount Argentis

the economic prospertity would last until the The War of Storms when the dragon Kartherax, drawn by the riches of the town, attacked while most of the soldiers were off fighting. The town suffered numerous losses of both life and infrastructure during what would be known as the Seared Silver. It was only when a local boy Genn Greyhilt, who was off fighting the Sarrahassid Empire returned, managed to slay the dragon with the help of Garm, Shaman of the Stoneaxes, Haelvard , a local boy and sharpshooter, Belegost Palehammer, scion to the famous palehammer clan, and Staved wizard Eobard Nollot. This earned the young Genn title of Baron by right of heroism. Unfortunately his heroism could not combat the economic crisis looming on the horizon, despite his massive donations from his share of the dragons hoard, when the mines beneath Cyrus finally dried up, causing a massive economic downturn and mass exodus from Cyrus.

Architecture

used to be stone buildings, hewn from the bountiful mines, intricate stonework was common even amongst poorer communal housing, paid by charity from both the knightly orders and the robust workers unions seeking to ensure wealth was used to enhance the entire town. In richer houses they would use silver leaf to line the shingles on the roof as a mechanism for reducing heat. The oldest building in town use a style similar to the azarketi, using round shapes and blue green stonework smoothed by water.   Recently most buildings have fallen into severe disrepair, those that were damaged in the attack of Kartherax were never repaired, causing most to live in houses with collapsed walls or holey ceilings

Geography

Coastal located on a bay, with the silverpan cutting through it leading to the east. sorrounded by hills causing the town to be quite shaded, which is good as the town has little tree cover. almost no beaches, instead most of the coast is raised on cliffs. Earth tends to be rocky with rough soil.

Climate

Mostly cloudy and chilly, sea mists regularly cloud the town. in colder months snow is uncommon but usually happens at least twice a year. climate tends to be stable for most of the year.
