Tessaran

A tesseran appears to be a transparent glass bottle, of a size normally used to hold wine. The bottle is typically closed with a glass stopper, often sealed with either a yellowish or red wax. inside the bottle is what appears to be a tiny translusent sprite. The sprite can be of nearly any color, and gives off a dim light to a distance of five feet. Unstoppering or breaking the bottle will cause the sprite to vanish in a burst of light (15' radius).
If however, the bottle is dropped inside of a teleportation circle, anything within the circle will be teleported to another teleportion circile somewhere in the world. The destination will be random, and the sprite, and all pieces of the bottle will disappear.
These bottles can occasionally be found floating in the ocean or along it's shores. They can also be found in ancient ruins (often near a teleportation circle), or in treasure troves along with other ancient items.
Tesseran are mainly a curiosity, and can often be sold to collectors for as much as 50 gp.
Tesseran are ancient items, and will appear as a minor conjuration if Detect Magic is cast on it.
While a tesseran might be an interesting plaything for a group of sucidal adventurers, they serve no practical purpose for an item that is as common as they are
