From the first days when man learned to harness the hidden powers of the world to work his own arcane desires, there have been those who deemed such acts unseemly. Throughout the ages they have worked both overtly and in secret to limit the success and influence of those who wielded arcane power. The cult of the Purgers would like nothing more than for the 'plague' of magic to be wiped from the face of the world. Following The Death of Magic, the cult gained a large amount of influence by preaching that "The gods have finally brought their judgement down upon us!", despite the fact that Divine magic was also affected by the events. They work in a variety of ways to curtail the effect of magic on humankind: campaigning against those who still possess magical powers or items.
Magic versus Technology
The Purgers do not allow their members to benefit from any sort of magic: No teleportation for faster travel, no magical shields to protect you from harm in battle, no magical healing to cleanse the body of disease or injury. They preach that man has developed technologies for a reason, and it is only through technology that humanity can find their way forward in the world.
It is not uncommon to find a group of purgers roaming the lands in search of tales of Magical items and locations with the intent to destroy them so that no-one shall be tempted to use them and 'Invite the wrath of the gods upon us once again'. There are rumors that the fall of the great city of The Shattered Collective (Country) Telemetros was fueled in part by their own efforts to destroy the ancient rituals and devices which kept the city aloft. How much of this is simply propaganda and them taking advantage of the events following the Death of Magic is up for debate.
There was an active bounty for any and all members of this cult offered by The Shattered Collective (Country): However since the Death of Magic there has of course been no-one to turn these bounties in to.
