Abreric Runes
Abreric Runes were a series of ciphers, code words, and gestures invented by Abraham Velan for use of communication by the Order of the Silverblade in the early days of its creation during the Imperial Age (fourth era). The purpose of these ciphers were originally used to communicate between operative and identity friendlies in hostile areas. Most of its use by the Silverblade was used to detail information about Vampires and other targets of attacks, as well as being able to write secret letters to each other.
Former members of the Silverblade had became thieves' and vagabonds, and used Abreric Runes for unofficial uses, which led to the code being discovered by and reused by the Thieves' Guild in Arden. Abreric Runes have changed in many ways since its creation, and continues to evolve in order for old discovered ciphers to no longer be useful to law enforcement and House Starblight. It is said that the exact cipher used by the Silverblade and Thieves' guild are almost unrecognizable to each other.
Regionality
Abreric Runes on the continent of Nor, primarily within the Empire of Ulstrom, are used by the Silverblade as part of their covert operations. In other parts of the world, where the Silverblade is legal, Abreric Runes are more used in meeting and documents, as they do not need to hide. The bastardization of Abreric Runes is often known as Theves' Cant, as it is used by criminals for communication of illegal activities.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
