Saffron Palm
The Saffron Palm is the resident thieves' guild within the city of Argil. Argil's exponententially growing wealth through the Age of Community provided the Saffron Palm with ample opportunity to grow in favorable conditions. The inequality that naturally grew between the upper class and the rest of Argil over this time allowed the guild to grow more as a vigilante, "Robin Hood" style of thieves guild. While the members of the Saffron Palm still target the spectrum of Argil's demographics, the overall guild serves more as an insurance net for the bottom off society against the top. The overall situation isn't hurt by the guild's headquarters situation.
As the power and wealth of Argil grew through the Age of Community, the monarchy built themselves a new castle. Argil's royalty used to be housed in the Golden Palace on an island separated from shore but buttressed from the bay by larger, clifflike islands. As a show of power and an outstretched hand of peace, the new castle of reaching spires was placed on the tallest island furthest out into the bay. This left the Golden Palace vacant of royalty. Continuing the show of extravagance, a casino was built within the Golden Palace. The Saffron Palm's headquarters is now beneathe the casino.
Without the need to constantly gather funds via enforcers patrolling the neighborhood for "protection" or the planning of heists, the Saffron Palm has slowly become a voice of the people. The Saffron Palm has gotten their fingers into more than one political conspiracy. The same skills that make vault heists lucrative are also great from getting blackmail material.
The Saffron Palm's relationship with the Crossroads Alley is amiable. By the late Age of Community, all of the Saffron Palm's most nefarious dealings were to facilitate requests that came through the Crossroads Alley to maintain relationships. Those very relationships allow the Saffron Palm to call in favors or to mediate incoming problems before they occur.
