Joaquim Marxuach
(a.k.a. The Red Claw)
Joaquim Marxuach is a notorious Foradar pirate who trawls the lands between the Magre Channel. He hides around the many islands in the area and has evaded capture for 14 years. He takes advantage of the disorganization following the breakup of the Adrdada Empire by attacking unprotected shipping lanes. Marxuach has connections within the Republic of the Ardada and avoids attacking their ships in exchange for them turning a blind eye. This allows him to prey on ships that are en route to Principalities of the Ardada and Nòu Ardada Empire.
He is known to be ruthless, bordering on cruel. If a ship surrenders to him he generally allows the crew to go, just confiscating their goods before dropping them off on one of the lowly populated isles and burning their boat. However, if the merchant ship being attacked decides to fight back little mercy is shown and the crew is usually slaughtered. Marxuach has no issue killing and even skinning women and children. He forces the captain to watch as his crew is slowly murdered over the span of days. Due to his infamous techniques few merchants brave a fight and shipping has slowed in the ocean near the Principalities of the Ardada.
He sometimes also deals in slaves, selling them to whatever unscrupulous connections he has. He is rumoured to be a supplier for the many slaves in Paísawizi.
No member of his crew has ever been known to rejoin society and little is known of what happens on his boat. Rumours have always spread about attempts at blood magic and his control of several important political figures, but little has been proven to substantiate these claims.
His ship is named Rubí and is a 1,500 ton carrack.
