Rune stones are mysterious magical artifacts that first appeared during conflicts with the Scars of Jakor .
Rune stones are small, palm sized stones of a dark, glossy purple hue that have different strange runes written into each. Some of these runes have been documented, but every now and again a new rune is discovered. The rune on the stone is thought to be of a draconian language, as the most stones came from brings associated with the dragons. Rune stones amplify magical energy, making even the lowliest of magical practitioners capable of producing magical spells. It’s when a mage has had time to study and practice the with the runes that their full potential is unlocked. While the mage colleges hoard rune stones as much as they can, the stones keep showing up in the hands of people outside of the college.

Legendary Runes

There are runes in the world that have unique symbols inscribed upon them. These runes have incredibly powerful effects and are mostly kept secret by those that know of them. Many would go to any lengths to acquire these valuable items which makes them just as dangerous to posses.

Corrupted Runes

There are runes that have been touched by The Void and have been corrupted. These runes are more powerful than their standard variants but they have a cost to use. Over time, the corruption spreads to the user and begins to sap their very essence. Eventually the person becomes a Spectre .

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Rune stones are used by magic practitioners to amplify their powers with relative ease. It takes some time for someone to learn how to properly implement the rune, but once they figure out how to channel magic through it, the full potential of the rune can be unlocked.

Manufacturing process

Dragons are associated with rune stones and were once thought to be their creators. This changed when a rune was discovered in the undermines of Zentru in a vein of Dragon Ore . The exact nature and origins or the stones is still unknown
