Grim Facade

The Grim Facade was one of two magical evil artifacts given to the lich Bezzkerron in the Long Years Past.  After the lich's destruction the Grim Facade was secreted away, ultimately finding itself in the hands of Ezrill the Sage Mistress.  It has since been found by a group of heroes and hidden away once more.
The Grim Facade is an obsidian mask with dark red filigree detailing around the eye and mouth holes.  It possesses a number of terrible powers. Anyone foolish enough to don the mask is corrupted totally.  Its chief drive is to be untied with its sister artifact the Star of Ruin.  With a mere glance, the Grim Facade can transform its victims into terrible misshapen monsters.  These monsters have no sense of their former selves, and seek only to murder all life with bezerk fury.  Most unsettling, the transformed adapt to attacks against them, rapidly evolving new eyes, limbs, or teeth as they seek to consume their prey.
