The Sylvan Road

The Sylvan Road is a network of magical byways and routes between worlds that have been closely protected and used by Sylvan races across the multiverse. It is a network of long, weaving tree roots that form the Amarantas, an infinitely expansive forest that touches many worlds, if not all of them. Ancient Sylvan tribes, such as the Sylvasi, have long studied the myriad of byways and have developed techniques of mastering return journeys.   In a newfound world, a Sylvan Pathkeeper performs a ritual that requires a unique fruit native to that realm. At the end of the ritual, the fruit is planted in the soil of the Sylvan's home world, creating a connection between the realms. A practice still shrouded in mystery, the gateways are only open as the trees bear fruit. This can take anywhere from days to centuries, depending on the distance and other factors that might affect travel between worlds.   The ripened fruit releases a signal that the Sylvan Pathkeepers have been trained to identify and follow, allowing them to travel freely to the forested areas of other worlds. Should the destination's fruits be depleted or eradicated entirely, whether through mundane or magical means, the Sylvan's home tree will cease to bear fruit, fading into the trees of the home forest.   It is thought by many Sylvan races that every tree in their home realm once bore fruit, whether or not that is the case now. They believe that, at some point, they were home to a deeply rooted path along the Amarantas. Some have hope that they will bear fruit again. It is just a question of when, not if. With this hope, they continue to be the shepherd of the trees, keeper of the forests, and guardians of the Sylvan Road.

As a fan of (in no particular order) Druids as a class, Norse Mythology in general, Pikel Bouldershoulder, and the Iron Druid Chronicles, I fully support this bridge article and its described method of transportation.

Feel free to stop by and read some of my strangely cold themed WorldEmber articles, like the mysterious Armored Forest, the wayward mage Jak of the Rime, or the deadly Trapper's Bane. For those that want to get away from the cold you could always ask Damien Dreamblossom if he has a recommendation for you...

I had to look up the latter two (fascinating), but YAY!! Thank you! Hahaha I'm going to try to draw out some sort of concept/map of it at some point.
