Maimed Causality

Can you imagine what the end of the world sounded like? The gunfire. The roaring of ship engines. The tearing of reality as Higher Order beings clashed like gods made flesh.   Can you imagine what the terror of the end of the world felt like? As xenos species, never seen before, fight you and each other, using your home as a battlefield and unleashing weapons of such terrible might that they scarred planets and space-time alike.   Can you imagine the what the end of the world was like to any of our senses?   Of course we can't. We weren't there. Others were, and we stand amongst their bones.   Yet Humanity is still here, functionally squatting amongst the ruins of a civilization once poised to cross the threshold of the singularity and grasp the laws of nature and physics directly.

Do they envy us? Or do they mourn for us?
