Education
Most of the education in the Sorendenese Empire is provided by the priests of local Mithran Temples. Sorendenese children attend Temple School for free and can only leave when they know the basic tenets of the Mithran faith, can read and write the Sorendenese cuneiform-like script and do basic arithmetic. Attendance after that is not mandatory, and is provided by the Temple on a pay-as-you-go basis.
In Engle, things are different. For a long time, the Temple has been trying to catch up with the rapid colonisation that has occurred in the kingdom and it is only in Constantine where anything approaching the normal for the rest of the Empire occurs. There are both Temple-run and Crown-funded schools for the Sorendenese in Engle (Many of the Crown-funded schools have teachers who are School of Occult Studies alumni paying off their King's Patronage) and there is little formal education of the Stemian native population at all.
