Missile weapons come in a variety of specialized categories. Skilled bowyers and fletchers can vary the execution from standard designs in order to create specialized effects. Normally, these mundane variations result in an augmentation of one effect with the sacrifice of another. For example, a bow with a heavier bow string may result in better damage but require a higher strength minimum to use.
The creation of such items is based upon the availability of materials, and an appropriately skillled craftsperson. These individuals are commonly only available in highly populated areas but it may be possible to find them in smaller areas.
