Council of Electors

The Council of Electors serves as an advisory council and parliamentary body to the Emperor of Coritha since the signing of the New Imperium Charter. Each Imperial province and the church possess a single seat on the council which is filled either by the ruler of a province or a person designated by them. The council has the power to elect, oppose, and even depose an emperor, and no laws or edicts can take hold across the empire without a majority approval by the electors.

Structure

There are seven seats and thus seven votes on the Council. The Canon of the Imperial Church and the leader of each province control one seat each on the Council of Electors while the Emperor controls two.

History

To end the Season of Strife The New Imperium Charter was signed in the year 1208, disbanding the Senate and its control of the Empire from the Capitol and creating the Council of Electors to rule from the seat of each province. The replacement system of government is credited by historians as a main reason for the current era of Pax Imperium where wars of conquest are things of the past and internal conflicts are all but unheard of.
