The Departure is the name given to the mass exodus of Fae from our world during the 14th century.
Fae have been visiting our world from old, and there were several known fae communities living in our world, some even had close connections with humans. However, as political powers in began to show more and more intolerance toward magic, eventually supporting, if not commanding, acts against magical beings, many of these fae chose to leave our world fearing that this mainly European trend will spread worldwide.
