Northlands

(Scandinavia/Scotland) When humanity made its way across Magadrinn, a contingent of the human settlers were not content to stop at the Lorn Rise. They continued up the Teth River all the way to the Lorn Highlands and over the White Mountains.   There they found a harsh, but vibrant and beautiful terrain that became known as the Northlands. The human settlers followed the Turl River up to the coast where it spilled out into the roiling and treacherous White Sea.   The Northlanders first settled their city of Turl at the mouth of the river from which it takes its name, and then they mastered the waters with their fearsome and sleek longboats.   The Northlanders have a tribal society broken up into clans that dominate regions throughout the kingdom. There is a king who sits on the throne at Turl, and he demands fealty from the various clan chiefs. There is often fighting amongst the different clans, some with bad blood between them going back centuries. But the Northlanders primarily keep to themselves. They have been known to occasionally harass the Lorn coastline along the White Sea, and on a handful of occasions they have marched down out of the White Mountains to raid the Lorn Highlands. That is a rare occurrence though. More often than not, the Northlanders will send their ships and berserker warriors to support their cousins to the south in the Lorn Empire when called upon to do so.
