For untold millennia the world of Maerin has been visited by Quorath and its fell Harbinger. Legends speak of Quorath's betrayal of The Joru, Creator of all, and how Quorath sent The Harbinger to destroy its divine siblings, the Thera. Others say it is a concentration of wild magic that rips open the barriers between dimensions, creating the Planar Rifts that occur across Maerin. In truth not even the ancient Xylos were alive for the last passage of The Harbinger so who can say if it even exists at all?
What we do know is that the walls between worlds are thin on Maerin. Rifts provide the raw power for Wizards and Priests to achieve their greatest works, and sometimes act as bridges allowing travelers from other planes of reality to enter Maerin. Our world is a haven for Fae folk both foul and fair, from the Moon Elves of the Starwatch Peaks, the Besra tribes of the northern Ashana, and even the foul Quor slavers who venerate the Thera of chaos and destruction in their desert kingdom. Maerin is a world of wonders and danger, full of adventures both profitable and perilous for those brave enough to explore it.
So sit fair traveler and peruse these tomes while sipping a glass of Yarath Goldwine or enjoying a pipeful of Amaranth Leaf. Learn of our peoples and lands, and then set out to see what mysteries await you.
Happy exploring,
