Vondel
Vondel is a Human warlock of Saint-Alia-of-the-Knife and an active member of the adventuring party. He previously worked with Kala as an Inqusitor for the Church of Tyr. He apprehended Zati on their way to Greenwood Village to investigate rumors of the undead
Vondel was made the temporary barer of The Staff of Flesh and Bone, the source of the undead, after taking it from Yohan Marley. This made him a target during Myrin's attack on the party. Afterwards Vondel showed his inquisitor skills by interrogating Myrin, ending with the later missing a toe.
While in Thuria, Vondel showed Kala and the rest of the party the secret hallways of St. Alia within The Temple of Tyr and revealed some of their beliefs and practices. Soon after he blasted Magister Whitelaw out of a window while being accused of various crimes. Vondel took great pride in many of his suspicions about the Church being justified during this timeframe.
He received a strong vision from Faxina using the Communication Orb which caused him to have to endure a large amount of psychic damage which left him mentally scared.
Vondel is the eldest member of the group and often a voice of reason. He is suspicious of anything out of the ordinary, but is also extremely curious. He is worldly and understands that many things are not as they seem.
Vondel grew up in a village close to the main temple of Ste. Alia. As he grew up he was drawn into their mysteries. Always of an ambitious and curious mind, Vondel rose quickly through their ranks, finding out that this sect was a front for the worship of a dark being. Rather than being horrified, Vondel pledged himself to this cause, gaining dark powers from Ste. Alia, and travels the land to find her powerful relics that will someday summon her into this plane and grant all those that worship her a position of true power. Vondel was one of a small group of devotees who managed to repulse Bishop Aelfor from the Sacred Field, the most sacred space of Saint Alia. In doing so he gave the Bishop a scar up and down his right arm with the scythe he had unknowingly summoned. The Elders knew that this marked Vondel as one of the Seekers-of-the-Knife, truly blessed by the Saint. They sent him to Thuria for training in the cathedral of Tyr , where he learned of the ways of the larger world. Vondel does do true work for the larger church, but his deepest loyalties are to the devotees of Ste. Alia.
