Write about an extremely unusual spell or ability in your world.

Effect

This Link connects the souls of two targets (linkees), allowing each person to know the physical and emotional condition of the other. This manifests in a "gut feeling" that will spike up whenever the other person is in a state of emotional or physical distress.
What this doesn't do is allow each person to perfectly read or understand the other. It can't be used at will, and it doesn't let them know the exact injuries or emotions that are causing the distress. It only tells them when distress is there, whether or not it's life-threatening, and the direction the distressed linkee is in.

Side/Secondary Effects

This spell takes a lot of Chaos Energy, so after it's completed, the spellcaster (Linker) is physically drained and needs 30 min to an hour to recover.
When the Link is activated through distress, the "gut feeling" shoots up and makes the non-distressed linkee uncomfortable and on-edge. If the discomfort gets strong enough (meaning the distress is life-threatening), then it pushes the other linkee to find the first, not giving them any other way to relive the extreme discomfort.

Manifestation

When the spell is first cast, the two linkees feel a tether form between them. That feeling never leaves unless the spell is broken, which can only happen by the death of one of the linkees. It simply slips into the background of their minds until one is in distress.

The source of power is Chaos Energy, though the Master Emerald must deem the spellcaster worthy of being a Linker. If someone has been chosen to be a Linker, they can't use Chaos Energy in any other way.

Applied Restriction

A Linker won't do this spell unless the linkees meet these specifications:

1. The linkees consistently encounter life-threatening situations and/or have a legitimate reason to suspect that one or both of them are in mortal danger
2. The linkees already have a close bond (sib, spouces, parent/child, coworkers, best friends)

Part of this is ethics- if the linkees don't care much about each other or only casually know each other, they shouldn't be subjected to know when the other is in distress or be compelled to run to their aid.

Another part of this is practical- Chaos Energy turns thoughts into power and works through emotions. If two people care about each other enough that that love already gives them a sort of "sixth sense", then the mythical connection is only running along that same sentiment and strengthening it.

Another restriction is that any person can only be tethered to one other person at a time. This is because the connection and energy required for this spell is so strong that it can't be split, not to mention that the spell wouldn't differentiate between the different links. Only having one person tethered too like this saves the energy and sanity of the linkees.
