Psionics

Psionics are the ability for living beings to use dark matter stimulation via Meson-33 rings implanted in their body. In most species this ability is only made possible through suites of surgically implanted M33 rings, often referred to as stimplants. Psions are capable of action at a distance; lifting an enemy into the air, throwing them, or even creating protective fields.   Stimplants were first implanted in capuchin monkeys by german researchers shortly after the earth-mars war. It would be years of experimentation on monkeys before the first human psion was created in 2072. Just as with nano- and bio-amps, many people were violently opposed to the augmentation of the human body. Early psions were shunned and shown extreme prejudice over their very visible augmentations. The first human psions were very limited in their abilities, and would require extensive experience and practice to perfectly control their abilities. Psions would prove invaluable during the terran rebellions, kept as security aboard military and merchant vessels they would be highly effective at repelling boarders. Over time the public opinion on psions changed favorably, but latent distrust and disrespect remained in large parts of the population.   Today's human stimplants consist of three rings in each arm, capacitors, and neural links to the brain. Even after nearly a century of innovation on the tecnology, stimplants are still very invasive and apparent on the body. The nervous system has yet to be used to bridge the brain and implants, rather a physical cable must be run from the brain to the arms. Exhaust points for burnt arsenic have to be implanted on the forearm. The human body doesn't provide enough power on its own to operate the stims, so batteries have to be installed somewhere on the body.   Znbuli's very powerful magnetic field keeps a large amount of meson particles suspended within the planet's lower atmosphere. dzlkali evolved to implement this particle into their bodies and stimulate it with arsenic. Unaided these powers aren't effective at a distance, but are very good for capturing close prey. At the start of their bronze age, dzlkali discovered they could shove various chunks of metal into their bodies to amplify the range and strength of these abilities.
