kobold
Kobolds are short, reptilian humanoids that tend to live in the darkness of crowded warrens, scraping out a meager but creative level of survival while extolling their greatness as kin of dragons. They can frequently be seen in the service of other evil creatures but their cleverness, talent with trap-making and ambushes allow them to survive (as a tribe, if not necessarily individually) a world that seems to be out to crush them underfoot.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Kobolds are reptilian bipeds that measure around 3 feet tall and up to double that in length from snout to tail. They possess four-fingered hands, three-toed feet, a long tail, and a tapered head. The eyes are large and forward-facing, giving thre creature excellent binocular vision, and the mouth is large and contains pointed teeth that are continually falling out and being replaced. A kobold's jaws are powerful for their size, allowing them to break bones, but also with enough dexterity to be used as a third hand at times. Kobolds possess tough scales that typically reflect the colors of chromatic dragons (red, green, blue, black, and white), as well as small horns and sharp talons that suggest a distant relationship with true dragons.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Kobolds have excellent darkvision, reflecting their life usually spent in dark tunnels or scavenging under the cover of night, but as a consequence they tend to have a poor tolerance for bright light. They also possess a keen sense of smell, allowing them to find obscure food sources or evade potential enemies.
