frost giant

Among the true giants, the ferocious frost giants are the most feared of all the peoples of Cori Glacia. Hot-blooded and cold-skinned, these massive barbarians seek to reclaim their frigid territory from the smaller humanoids that they perceive to be mere interlopers at best and vermin at worst.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Frost giants are powerfully muscular humanoids with pale blue or ivory white skin, while their hair and eyes tend to display colors like dirty yellow, white, and pale blue. The adults average about 15 feet tall and weigh around 2800 pounds, though the women are usually shorter and lighter than the men. Both sexes will wear their hair long and elaborately braided, and males will often soak their beards in water and allow them to freeze before battle in order to present their foes with wickedly sharp icicles.

Ecology and Habitats

Frost giants live in the bitterly cold mountains near the heart of Cori Glacia, competing mainly with rival clans for dominance of the region. Because of their immunity to the cold, even the harshest winters do not phase them as they hunt the megafauna and occasionally raid settlements of Auldfir and snow elves. Their bitterest rivalry, aside from other frost giant clans, is that with the glacier dwarves with whom they share the mountains.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Frost giants are mainly carnivorous, supplementing their meat-heavy diets with starchy vegetables and hearty mead to keep them going. Their favorite hunting quarry is the Megaloceros, though they will often pursue woolly mammoths as well.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The senses of frost giants are similar to those of most humanoids, but they have a sharper sense of smell, and they are not vulnerable to snow-blindness as other races may be.
