asherati
Asheratis are thin, hairless humanoids native to the Magestorm Desert. While they superficially resemble slender humans, they can swim through sand, ash, and dust with the same speed and grace as a merfolk swims through water. They are frequent and enthusiastic traders with the other races of the desert, often emerging from their subterranean cities and villages to greet travelers.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Asheratis are slender humanoids with rust-red skin, solid white eyes, and no hair on their head or body. A typical adult asherati stands 5 to 6 feet tall. Their tissues are soft and spongy, allowing them to absorb even minimal moisture from the air, with the tradeoff that they can easily become waterlogged and sluggish if submerged in water. Asheratis also have the ability to make their skin glow brightly, allowing them to see solid objects while traveling through the sand, though they cannot make out details or see concealed or invisible creatures.
Ecology and Habitats
Asheratis are found exclusively in the Magestorm Desert, building their villages and cities deep under the sand. Here, tightly-knit families gather, emerging during the day to trade their sand sculptures with surface-dwellers, or at night to pilfer supplies. They are capable of swimming through loose sand with the grace and speed of merfolk through water, and are often hired by other races as guides through the unforgiving waste.
