Koloni-Ye-Luma

Koloni-Ye-Luma, also known as Lumestan, is the Twin Empires' colony on the terraformed lunar surface. Its wealth comes from minerals; lux and helium 3 are mined here, and any other valuable substances caught up in this extraction is an added bonus. The colony also has a large enough population to be prosperous in its own right, and is also a noted spiritual center; not only is the moon itself subject to worship, solar shrines are found across the surface in great numbers. The dialect of Imperi spoken in the colony has already diverged enough to be considered a distinct language known as Malinga, and the Kononi-Ye-Luma is increasingly a distinct realm within the Empire's territories, rather than a simple colony.

Structure

The Governor of Lumestan is appointed by the Twin Emperors. Under him are the governors of the Lunar provinces, and under them are the head priests of the lunar shrines and the mayors of the colonial cities.

Public Agenda

The purpose of Lumestan is to generate mineral wealth to the Empire as a whole, to provide a new home for the Empire's citizens in the solar system, and to glorify the Divine agents of the Light.

Assets

Numerous helium-3 deposits, lux deposits, several large cities and numerous smaller ones, a great number of important religious shrines, a population of 60,000,000, a strange and ethereal beauty.

History

The moon was first terraformed by 1309 AD. Small settlements of imperial scientists and technicians already existed on the surface by that point, with their hub being the site of No Seleniya, which was also the first site of permanent settlement on the moon altogether. The Treaty of No Seleniya reaffirmed international recognition of the Imperial claim to the lunar settlement, at which point settlement began in earnest. The foundation of provinces to oversee the burgeoning population became necessary, as the challenge of governance changed from the equivalent of a small city to that of a full sized imperial territory. Rights of settlement were also granted to specific foreign nations, allowing Nihonese and Andean populations to form their own colonies in specific locations. These colonies are still, ultimately, governed by the Imperial colony.
