Marchioness Valeria Rosecroft

Marchioness Valeria Rosecroft is the ruler of the March of Yarsol in the Ossyeard. Rarely seen, numerous mysteries surround the reclusive marchioness, who has been ruling Yarsol since time immemorial.

Biography

Valeria was born many centuries ago, said to be the last of the frost elves, and founded the March of Yarsol at some point in her early life. It is unknown whether the city predates her, or whether she is responsible for its creation. The marchioness was first documented in an old explorer's journal, described as "a distant figure, tall and slender, with pale skin and elven ears". Though others have been known to reside in Yarsol in the first century of Valeria's reign, the place was rumored to be cursed among other Ossyeardans, who often accused the marchioness of being the source of its evil.
Ever since the population of Yarsol has been growing, the marchioness makes herself known mostly through the intermediary Blizzard Blades, her personal armed forces, bearing her sigil on their uniforms. These swordsmen and -women are without exception known to be quiet, curt, and incorruptible to a fault. They refuse even the smallest gifts such as drinks, and only appear to guard certain locations or arrest troublemakers - who often disappear without a trace. This implies that Valeria does not tolerate criminality, and regularly executes those found guilty of it.
Very occasionally, the marchioness is spotted on one of the balconies of her residence, the Castellum of Mist. Gazing out over the city or the frozen wastes, often holding a drink and seemingly unbothered by the cold. It seems that, other than the Blizzard Blades, no one else takes up residence within the Castellum, and it is therefore assumed the marchioness is unmarried and without children.

Personality

No records exist of anyone conversing with the marchioness, therefore, all accounts of her personality are indirect, through the Blizzard Blades. They describe her as patient, lenient, poised, and refined. She has never intervened in cases of famine or disease, and does not claim land or join conflict, even leaving an invitation to join the Meeting of the North to go unanswered. This all implies a personality of not caring about the outside world, content to reside in her Castellum without worrying about anyone or anything else - except when they cause undue trouble within her demesne.
Her lineage is subject to doubt and speculation: many disbelieve the claimed heritage of the marchioness as a frost elf, as none other than her have ever been known to exist. Some claim she is a high elf, others claim she is something different altogether, such as a changeling, a powerful mage, a magical being, or a monster. Due to the protected temple to Kelemvor within the city, many assume she is somehow connected to the deity.
