Werewolves

Description

The most common type of werebeasts within Thuria and Faerun would be werewolves. A werewolf is a humanoid that shifts into a beastial hybrid when certain conditions or experiences are met. Found in all climates, both in the wild and hidden in civilization, their appearance is frightening in nature and their behavior is unpredictable. Ritual Born, otherwise known as a Cursed Werewolf, tend to hide themselves away due to their more feral nature, while Born Werewolves may have adopted more human reasoning. Most werewolves will have common triggers: the scent of blood, simulated emotional events, and, of course, the unavoidable moon and its phases. Despite being born or made, werewolves have two substances used to hinder them or cause their deaths if left untreated, being silver and wolfsbane.
The Born Werewolf
A born werewolf tends to have more control over their nature and transformations which comes from the bloodline passed down from parent to child. This does not mean they will not change during a full harvest, blood moon, or by any other trigger, but are able to delay the effect with a reasonable amount of mental control. (Ex: Willpower check)

Ritual Born

A ritual born werewolf does not receive their blessing from the parent but thought a ritual from a selected god/deity. While the effect of the ritual does not change the wolf’s strengths and weaknesses, it does necessitate an anchor for control and understanding. Ritual werewolves will almost always have an immediate reaction to their triggers until they learn better control. The more recent the curse, the more susceptible they are.
When creating a Werewolf, their alignment falls within Lawful Neutral to Chaotic Evil. We encourage players wishing to break alignment arcs to journal their characters' experiences that lead up to it.

Players wishing to play a Werewolf must submit a rare race application to staff for approval. The following must be included in the application to be considered for approval:
  • What triggers cause your Werewolf to shift?

Current players wishing to turn into a Werewolf must submit a short story, documenting their experience of turning. Please allow a minimum of two OOC weeks to pass after creating your human character before submitting your stories. Stories should be well thought out, and make sense for your character to be changing. Staff holds the right to deny any applicants wishing to change. No bites, no scratches. Any sheets or stories that hint at scratches or bites, causing their transformation will be rejected immediately. If a player is bitten by a werewolf, they will experience flu-like symptoms for 3 (OOC) days.

Players currently roleplaying a Werewolf CANNOT inflict the curse of Lycanthropy on another player. (Therefore, another PC Werewolf should not be named in your short story of transitioning).

Most races can become cursed with lyncanthrophy, the following races CANNOT be inflicted with the curse; Fiends, Sirens, Vampires, and Minotaurs.

Werewolves may hail from either Thuria or Faerun. We leave you creative freedom to flavour it to your liking accordingly to which lore your prefer as long as the basic points on this page are respected.

Character Build

Werewolves retain their humanoid appearance when not in their shifted form, but sometimes develop more beastial looking eyes and perhaps slightly elongated canines. These features tend to be subtle, allowing them to remain adequately integrated into most normal societies when they have the need to be.   The height of your Werewolf Character is dependant on the form they have while not shifted which depends on their race. Please refer to the appropriate articles on other races to see how tall or small your Werewolf PC can be.   Roleplay Redux Racial Abilities:
  • Werewolves are granted the "Transform: Werewolf" racial ability. As it's name suggests, this is the ability that shifts you into your werebeast shape. Upon transforming, a roll will happen to see if you retain control or succumb to the beast. You may try regaining control on the end of each turn if you lost it. While in your werewolf form, you gain increased damage, resistance and access to the "Bite of the Wolf" and "Werewolf Claw Attack" abilities as well as "Transform: Mortal", your power to revert back to your humanoid shape.
Indrid's Racial Stats:
  • Authority: 5
  • Vitality: 2
  • Perks: Second Wind, Shapeshifting, Night Vision
