Udzar
The sun was but a small dot in the distance, barely able to pierce through the heavy veil of clouds ever present in dreaded Udzar. Trees, however small and twisted, covered the southern parts in sparse forest, but even they gave up in the far northern corners of the region.
To the north and west Udzar was bordered by tall and impassable mountains, while in the east it was met by the Storm Sea, so named for its temperamental and occasionally raging weather. In the south these hollow lands met the wilds of Tenwä, a vast and untamed forest covering most of the continent in a veil of dark, deep green.
Despite what first impressions might have first implied, life managed to cling to Udzar, both above and below ground. Most of it was contained within the sparse forests in the south and under the protection of the mountains in the west however, leaving much of the central wasteland alone.
Climate
The winters of Udzar were long and dark, and wild northern winds ruled the region with a deadly cold grip. Storms were a common, though not an everyday occurrence, and snow could pile up taller than the average man, making travel through the region all but impossible.
Summers, while short and cold, were warmed by the sun which remained over the horizon both day and night. These long days offered a welcome break from winter's grasp and gave life a chance to bloom and prosper.
