The Tuttle Papers
in English, and other tongues, written by various authors, 1860- 1924
One of the most recent additions to the Orne Library. The journals and letters of Massachusetts recluse Amos Tuttle were donated to the University after the mysterious death of his heir, Paul Tuttle, in 1928. The materials, thrown together in no apparent order, occupy at least six large boxes in the Book Repair room of the Library's basement. Assistant librarian Bryant Hoskins began sorting and cataloging the Tuttle papers in the summer of 1928, but his breakdown left the work unfinished.
