Phandalin

"The rutted track emerges from a wooded hillside, and you catch your first glimpse of Phandalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldstone foundations. More old ruins—crumbling stone walls covered in ivy and briars—surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past. Most of the newer buildings are set on the sides of the cart track, which widens into a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on a hillside at the east side of town." - description from the Lost Mines of Phandelver book

Phandalin is a small, frontier town located in the Sword Coast region of the Forgotten Realms, situated at the crossroads between Neverwinter and the Triboar Trail. Once a prosperous mining settlement, Phandalin was nearly abandoned after the fall of the Wave Echo Cave mine but has seen a resurgence in recent years as settlers and traders have returned to the area. The town is characterized by its rustic, frontier charm, with buildings constructed from wood and stone, and a thriving local economy centered around trade, agriculture, and the nearby Barthen's Provisions supply store.

Though Phandalin has seen growth, it remains a town struggling with lawlessness, largely due to the influence of the Redbrand Ruffians, a gang of thugs who harass the citizens. The town is also home to a few notable figures such as Elmar Barthen, a local merchant, and Sildar Hallwinter, a member of the Lord's Alliance who aims to restore order. Phandalin serves as a key starting point for adventurers traveling to explore the dangerous Wave Echo Cave, seeking to uncover its lost treasures and ancient secrets.
