Week One
Word Goal
For this first WorldEmber event I'll be hoping to put together 10,000 words of new material for Lorgaire.
In previous events I was able to put together similar or greater quantities of material, but my schedule has prevented me from getting much done since. Hopefully with some structured goals for the WA event I'll get more done again. I'd like to build further upon the
Summer Camp and
Cabinet of Curiosities to tie adventure locations into a more cohesive collection of cultures.
Area of Focus
Expanding on the cultures of the world setting, through people and places relevant to the stories of the
adventure ideas listed for the Discovery campaign.
From the perspective of the common and small folk of the world, who and what do the average people know of, or believe in the existence of. What is true about the mysterious ruins? Why would the enemy want to come here? Who is important enough or powerful enough to do something about it? True or not, this is what they think, and can pass on to the player characters if they don't already know it too.
World Meta
Reviewed and updated, the world continues to focus on themes abandoned or given cursory attention in modern settings. The lives of simple people can contain adventure, and magic does not need to be grandiose to terrorize or inspire awe.
Week Two
World materials reviewed, and a new
Player Primer written. It's a bit more encompassing and focussed on the setting than the previous
Discovery Campaign landing page.
Week Three
Episodic storytelling is key to the design, with successes achievable and a sense of advancement at a small scale. Setup for small story arcs will be a prime design goal for this worldember's writing.
Week Four
Timing will be tight in the early weeks to hit article goals, but there are fellow writers who will be encouraging if I can exercise the self-discipline needed to commit to a few regular blocks of writing time.
