The Great Sea

Look upon ye oh Ismast, the great sea before us. It connects us and permits us passage. Our traditions which have stood for millennia keep us at peace with its power.

Geography

The Great Sea is the open highway that connects all the islands of the world. Beneath its waves are deep trenches that no man has gone down before, the deepest being Canyon of the Aboleth. Since the dawn of man, it has now been littered with hundreds of thousands of ships that creatures make their home in, along with the already abundant coral reefs and cave systems.

Localized Phenomena

At night, when glowing algae becomes apparent and many deep-sea creatures come to eat, there can be seen in the distance, sea ghosts and their great ships known as the Kohatia, come to take new crew members. These appear in great numbers around Naucti Burial Grounds.

Fauna & Flora

The most important creature is the blue whale. Rarely seen at all, let alone alive, they are seen as omens for great or terrible things to come. They are dispensers of wisdom and are said to hold many secrets, being connected not only to the Ocean domain but the domain of Knowledge and Wisdom.     Particularly Dangerous Creatures fire coral: a kind of coral that leaves permanent damage from its sting. They are frequently harvested and turned into weapons in the outer archipelago.   various octopi: intelligent creatures, many of whom are poisonous. They are distantly related to the ship crackers: another term for the Giant Squid. The Giant Squids come out at night in the summer and are said to be collectors of treasures from the ships they sink.

Spirit Realm

Everything in the Great Sea is of the Ocean Domain and below its depths resides Waldon the Sea Queen and saint of the sea. Her related creatures include things such as the gyojin: a fish with a human face that predicts the future.   Other great creatures include the Great Shark Holikai and the Giant Crab Ilgut
