Rules and Introduction

Welcome to Linea!

Lore Linea is a forum based, play-by-post, high-fantasy canine RPG with a focus on flexible playstyles and integrated storytelling. Whether you are new to the creative writing scene or a veteran RPer, we welcome you here.

Linea utilizes real and liquid time. While one day in Linea is equal to one day IRL, posts and actions may be backdated as you desire.

Lore Linea is currently in CLOSED BETA and is not open to membership. However, please check back as we continue to add content!

Rules, Etiquette, and Content Restrictions

In general, Lore Linea is a 3-2-3 on the RPG content scale. Below are more specific content guidelines that we ask you to follow:

Language: Characters are permitted to swear freely. However, use of slurs is not permitted.

Sexual Content: Is allowed with heavy restrictions. We are a "soft 2", meaning we lean more towards limiting sexual content rather than not. Sexual acts may not be shown/described in detail, and we require "fade to black" if these acts occur between your characters. Additionally, characters must be adults in order to engage in any sexual activity. Romantic or physical relationships between adult and subadult characters are not permitted. Topics such as rape, non-con, dub-con, or pedophilia may not be referenced in character bios or in-post. When in doubt, ask a mod or avoid it altogether.

Violence: Is fully permitted, so long as it follows our Dice Rolls and Impactful Actions guidelines.

Our goal is to strike a balance between having the freedom to tell interesting stories / explore different concepts and creating a safe space where all of our players feel comfortable. Even if you are following content guidelines, please always check with your roleplay partners if you are touching on a topic that might be uncomfortable for them. It's always best to ask!

Additional rules/etiquette are as follows:

1. No power-playing or god-modding. Characters must follow the restrictions of their skill/affinity levels and follow the dice roll guidelines. Light powerplay IS acceptable in instances where both parties consent, and must consent must be indicated at the bottom of the post where the powerplay occurs.
2. In Character does not equal Out of Character. If you and your RP partner's characters are fighting, that doesn't mean you are! Conversely, you should also not use your character to harass or bully another player's (unless that's agreed upon beforehand!)
3. Be respectful This one should go without saying, but it is extremely important. Our biggest priority is promoting a safe and friendly space for players to enjoy. IC or OOC actions that are disrespectful, hateful, or uncomfortable for other players will not be tolerated. Treat others how you would like to be treated!
4. Be collaborative forum-based roleplay is an exercise in group storytelling, and therefore we must embrace when things don't go according to plan. We all have visions of our character's epic story arcs, but remember that yours is not the only story being told! Remember to be graceful if you lose a challenge or rank to another player, and be inclusive when a new player wants a place in that juicy plot you're cooking up. Your flexibility might lead you your character in a direction you would never have anticipated!
5. Be honest many of our systems operate on a honor system: we cannot police every post you make! However we expect you to follow the guidebook and the intended spirit of the game: it makes it more fun for all of us! Repeated instances of dishonest or exploitive gameplay will dealt with accordingly. Additionally, please try to keep your story in line so you don't confuse other people's experience. Avoid heavy retconning, and follow site mechanics and guidelines for travel, skill progression, etc.
6. Art, character or writing theft is not tolerated. All utilized content must be created by you or used with permission/credited appropriately. This includes the use of stock photos. AI-generated (or augmented) writing, designs, applications or artwork are NOT permitted and are also considered theft.
7. All players must be 18+ in order to join. No exceptions. Minors will be banned.

In general, OOC discussions on boards or Discord should also follow these guidelines. Players found not operating within these rules will be issued warnings or bans depending on the infraction.

Activity Requirements & Post Quality

There are no strict activity requirements on Linea: life is busy; and this is meant to be a game, not a chore! The only exception is that characters in leadership positions within packs should be able to make at least 15 posts each season (3 months). This is simply to ensure that our packs remain active and that stories are not stalled due to unexpected inactivity. See Packs for more information.

Similarly, Lore Linea does not have a minimum word count for most posts. The only exception to this is that threads that are being claimed for skill levelling are subject to some quality guidelines (see Skills Overview), and site events with game-altering rewards may have quality and/or word count requirements in order to be eligible.

That being said, mass-posting deliberately low-quality posts for the sake of farming experience, IC currency, or taking advantage of other site mechanics goes against our rules (see: rule no. 5) and is not in the spirit of our game. But as long as you are putting some effort and creativity in, you should be fine!

Our guidebook doubles as a repository for world lore and site history, so it can be quite bulky! Here's a quick guide to get you started:

Quick Start Guide Contains all the required information you need to create your character and get started playing. We recommend reading this before making your account!

Advanced Mechanics Contains game mechanics that aren't strictly required to understand in order to play, but are still a fun part of the site!
